Bisphenol A (BPA) Content in DT Labels
Thursday, September 30th, 2010Recent media reports have highlighted the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) in thermal receipt papers. BPA is an industrial chemical used to make polycarbonate plastic resins, epoxy resins and other products. Plastics containing BPA have been in the market for more than 50 years.
BPA is used in small quantities on some direct thermal products as a developer that reacts with heat to produce the image. Zebra has worked with its suppliers to provide a list of BPA free materials and to confirm which materials do contain BPA.
